HOA transfer fees
In common interest developments, usually a home owners association (HOA) transfer fee is required when transferring ownership in a home.
This fee usually covers all the document preparation, administration and fees required under Civil Code to transfer ownership, and the costs involved in changing membership records.
This fee can also cover initial fees for membership in community resources, like swimming pools and golf courses, parking passes, mailbox keys and several other items and services.
Usually, fees are between $60 and $600, but may be much more if community service organizations are included.
It is the property sellers obligation to provide these details to the buyer.
