Advertising options for selling a home runs from free to several thousands of dollars. Most FSBO (For Sale By Owner) sellers, use a variety of methods.

* "For Sale" yard signs - $15 to $280. Depending on the amount, size and quality of the sign. You can also make your own sign for free.
* Home data sheets - $5 to $300. Again, the quantity and quality of these data sheets or brochures affects the price. A photocopied page with details of the property for sale can cost as little as $5 for 50 copies. A glossy multi-page brochure, distributed at multiple outlets, along with color photos could be several hundred dollars
* Internet advertising can be free, such as on Craiglist.org, you can list your home on e-bay for $120, or you can make your own website featuring your home for sale.
* MLS listing. A listing on the database that real estate agents use cost between $300 and $500. Another cost to option is the commission you offer to any real estate agent bringing you a buyer. This can add costs up to 4% of the sales price of your home.
